Whether it's about happiness, wonder or pain, every face tells a story. Maybe it's a story of innocence as glimpsed in the eyes of a child. Perhaps it's a tale of a road less traveled concealed within the lines of a grandmother's face. As an artist, I try to capture these stories and bring them to life in a way that no photograph can. To me, portraiture is more than simply re-creating the subject's image; it's about expressing personality with paint and character through color.
Portraiture, when combined with elements of fantasy, can be used to create a unique story, one where the subject's dreams become reality. As an artist with a love of both the realistic and fantastical, traditional and digital art, I'm open to telling anyone's story as they wish--perhaps uncovering something new in the process.
